Synopsis: "Howns you. Whatever he tells you to do you do".
One year. No future. A past that won't go away.
Lennox "Nox" Demetri broke his own rule by making a deal. It may not have been directly with the devil, but that doesn't mean Satan himself isn't watching. Was it fate that brought Charli into his life and his bed? What will happen when rules are broken and secrets are revealed?
"New rules...my rules."
Alex "Charli" Collins found pleasure with Nox like she'd never known. That was before she knew his last name. Now that Infidelity is involved and the rules have changed, what will result when real life and fantasy collide?
Is it really cheating if you're doing it to yourself?
So before I started the 2nd book I was not aware that this was going to be part of a 5 book series!! The first book started out brilliantly! Nox was amazing and I decided that he was going to be a knight in shining armor for this series and I couldn’t wait for him to kick some butt and take some names.
Therefore, I was a little disappointed when it came to the 2nd book. Instead of getting what I was hoping for, we got more background regarding the family. It was similar to what Aleatha did in Consequences. Some of the chapters moved forward and some of them let you look into the past.
Charli’s mother is nothing but a worthless woman to me and I’m wondering what extremes she will go to “free” Charli. She wasn’t willing to “free” herself, but I’m wondering if she will just sell her daughter down the stream in order to save the family name or if she will step up to the plate for the first time in her life. I found it interesting that she wanted her daughter to be strong, but she wasn’t strong. She wanted more for her daughter, but little does Charli know she has sold her daughter’s freedom for the family’s “interest.”
To be honest, the family’s past just ticked me off! Charli’s family was just crazy! I get that they wanted to protect their company but they are some shady people. To me they reminded of people you would see on the Maury Show combined with money and arrogance. So now I really want Nox to come in and kick some butt. I need him go all alpha on these people and put them in their place. But instead he decided that he needs to teach Charli a lesson………….
So in the next book he is going to have a lot of ground to make up with me!
Overall it was a good book. Everyone knows that I love Aleatha’s writing style. The characters were amazing………… but frustrating!!! The plot line continues to deepen and not be some fluffy story that ends just to end. Instead, this story continued to add to our understanding of whom these crazy people are and why they are doing what they are doing. I may not agree or like these people, but it definitely adds another layer of context to the story. It keeps you flipping the pages because you are instantly rooting for Charli. I found myself yelling at her family multiple times in book and hoping that I wasn’t waking my husband up while I was yelling at my poor IPad. As normal, I will be impatiently waiting for the next installment in this series hoping that my knight and shining armor comes through for me and my new favorite girl Charli.
